Processing Design For Printing (Preparation)
After the design is completed and approved by the client, the design must be prepared for the printing process. Of course, the designer must know the basics of printing to take them into account during the design phase.
Colors, page layout, arrangement, margins, design sizes, fonts, and other things are important. It is not easy to modify the design after taking customer approval.
Colors, page layout, arrangement, margins, design sizes, fonts, and other things are important. It is not easy to modify the design after taking customer approval.
Here are the most important points that must be taken into account during the design:
- The size of the design is it horizontal or vertical, is it a page or a group of pages and is it a template for a box design ... etc.
- Define margins and print increases.
- Define CMYK colors for all texts and shapes before sending the design to the press, and we have explained it in advance.
- Convert all used design images to CMYK or greyscale images, even if it is stored in Folder in the design file in a fixed location.
- for images, the image can be also one color or two colors or even three you have first to convert the image to greyscale image than in PS or AI add the Pantone colors (we will describe it later in one of our posts).
- Define fonts (for texts) appropriate for design, and be installed on our computer because fonts may give us a problem if the same fonts are not installed on any other computer that we want to open the design on.
- After adopting the design from the customer, we take a copy of the design and convert all the fonts to be outlined, turning into curves and becoming irreversible, and the reason is that the fonts do not change from one computer to another (here is the computer in the printing press).
